This has come in very handy since I got started in electronics. The only drawback is there is no way to manualy keep the back light on. But that is a small drawback. The green-background of the LCD screen when lit is very easy to read. The solar cells on top keep the unit charged. I just leave on my desk, use it almost daily and have not had to charge yet.

The HoldPeak HP-90BS unit I purchased, is a replacement for an ancient analog meter that I have been using for decades. I was somewhat taken aback by its large size at first; in my estimation, more than likely do to the solar charging element. This unit does function well, and the fact that it is able to recharge from a light source, or USB, was a prime motivation in purchasing it.
Auto-ranging, a lighted large character display, and a setting that will give me a mAh readout from more modern and portable power sources is great for my usage. For me, this results in knowing the longevity or state of those power sources more definitively.
It was an appropriate choice for my particular needs.

It's a decent enough meter. Good ranges, seems to be accurate. Comes with a nice case and accessories. But what makes it outstanding is that it's USB and 120VAC rechargeable and solar powered. Somebody must have finally hired a designer who actually uses test equipment. There is nothing worse than spending ten minutes crawling into some dark rack ten miles from the nearest hardware store, only to find that the meter's stupid battery is dead.

After picking this multimeter up, I wasn't sure I was going to like the probe permanently attached to the body, but now that I have it, I am definitely a believer. While it may not be practical for all locations, it is nice to be able to not need a 3rd hand or find a location to set the display on the standard types that I use. This product feels well made (not cheap plastic like some) and fits the hand nicely. The ground probe slides into a channel for transport/storage which is nice and the built-in switchable light makes working under a car dash simple.
